Bathe

Lightning flashes like an alarm
and onlookers question if they are deaf.
Thunder follows long and low
like a baseline building up to the brake
and listeners obey, hands reaching for the sound

Wind washes trees like an airlock
and you wonder if it's all in your head.
Rain arrives, bursting and bright
like a promise that’s finally broken
and we stand under the shower, dying for a drink

About this poem

This poem is a new take on mankind's response to what is beyond human conception, how confusion can shape up, and what it is to be clean.
