Aftermath

When love is gone and the pain sets in,
We're left with pieces of a broken dream.
Amidst the turmoil and the chaos within,
Is where we learn to love ourselves anew.

The tears we shed, the heartache we feel,
All serve a purpose in our journey ahead.
For in the midst of this emotional ordeal,
We discover parts of ourselves that were once dead.

Picking up the pieces, one by one,
We embrace the flaws that once brought us down.
For every scar and battle won,
Helps us rise again, wearing a brand new crown.

We learn to love ourselves, flaws and all,
And realize that it was never the other's call.
For in the end, it was always our own choice,
To love ourselves fiercely, with a resounding voice.

So, let the past be where it belongs,
And embrace the beauty of the present now.
For we are strong, and our heart still sings songs,
Of a love that will come again, to show us how.

I would not consider myself a poet but I like to write what I feel. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but it is true to me. more…
