Entranced

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

In the hazy moonlight of the night,
We danced in the darkness.
As I held your hand, I felt a thrill,
Like grasping a memory,
I embraced the moment.

You were enamored
With the night,
With its mysteries and its glimpse.
Your eyes glittered
With a madness so deep,
It sent shivers down my being,
Making my heart race.

We swayed
To the rhythm of our hearts,
Breathless,
Falling into each other's souls.
The night was ours to keep and own.
Together,
We reveled,
Lost,
And unescorted.

Like grasping a memory,
I'll hold onto this night,
An unforgettable moment,
Forever, in my memory.
As you indulged
In your madness
And let it fly,
I was entranced,
Intoxicated,
And in awe
Of a moment
That never expires.

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
