Titanic Shame, April 15 of 1912.

Women and children first, Folks
Too few lifeboats.
That iceberg over to the left
Bout three hundred yards now
Did the damage
At higher speed
The crash brought a gash.
Pity.

I scampered into one
Of the rescue craft.
Staff member yes, Programming.
But not gonna lose
My neck over this job.
When there is a
Clear way out.

Incoming waters will
Pass through adjacent
Buoyancy chambers
One after another.
Until the weight causes
A horrible listing
Sinking. Deaths.

And this was the unstoppable
Structure.
Best in the World
Out of Belfast.
Lots of Irish having
The privilege. Proudly.
But in the cheaper, crowded bunks.

We have gone on
Radio for any sort of Rescue.
Also the good folks in Halifax.
God help us.
Great is our trouble tonight.
Moon illuminates
Paddling refugees
With an eerie light.
Some scream. Some sing.
