Burden of Love

In the depths of my heart, I made the hardest choices,
To protect the ones I cherish, with unwavering voices.
Haunted and burdened, each day with remorse,
Yet love guided my steps, an unyielding force.

I chose to shield them from the pain and despair,
Believing I could spare them the hurt they couldn't bear.
To shield their hearts from disappointment's sting,
Little did I know the blame it would bring.

In the crumbling chaos, when everything fell,
The weight of their blame on my soul did dwell.
For they never witnessed the hell I endured,
My sacrifices were unseen, my struggles obscured.

I sheltered them from the harsh truths of life,
Unaware of the consequences, the strife.
But now I stand accused, the villain they see,
The one at fault, causing their agony.

I never foresaw the impending fall,
Blinded by love, I gave my all.
Selfless choices made, a soul's sacrifice,
Yet in their eyes, I carry the price.

The emptiness they feel, they believe it's my doing,
A wound in my heart, forever accruing.
But I hold onto the love that compelled my path,
Hoping one day they'll understand the aftermath.

For the burden I bear is that of love's plight,
A choice made out of love, in the absence of light.
And though it kills me to be seen as the cause,
I'll carry this burden, love's eternal pause.

May they one day see the depths of my love's embrace,
And know that my intentions were never misplaced.
In the tapestry of pain and blame we weave,
May forgiveness and understanding achieve.

For, in the end, it's love that guides us through,
Even when our choices bring pain anew.
I'll continue to carry this weight, my heart torn,
Knowing I made those choices out of love, reborn.
