Free verse on Race

Momina Waheed 2001 (Lahore)

Race, a societal concept.
Created by man to categorise
Based upon ethnicity and heritage
It is, however, much more than that.
It moulds our lives.
Reflects our possibilities
In a world where certain people enjoy perks
Whereas others confront discrimination
It’s not strictly black and white.
But an array of hues
Through every corner to corner of the earth
Different customs, distinct views
We all are unique.
But we are a part
Of the human race,
Which ties us together.
Let us endorse our differences
And cherish our diversity
After all, we are all
Merely human beings, free and equal

About this poem

It conveys a stance about the societal construct of race and the value of embracing equality and to respect diversity
