Man's Best Friend

Kyle Studt 1989 (West Frankfort)

Loyal, faithful, true and kind,
A better friend, you'll never find,
With wagging tail and joyful bark,
A dog will always light up your heart.

With soulful eyes and a wet nose,
He'll comfort you when you've got the woes,
His furry head placed on your knee,
Has a power to make you feel free.

When life feels tough and all you need,
Is a good mate who'll never deceive,
No human friend could ever measure,
To the love of such a furry treasure.

Through thick and thin and high and low,
A dog's devotion will surely glow,
Man's best friend is what they claim,
Because that bond forever remains.

So here's to those beloved pets,
Who brighten lives without regrets,
A dog's love will never end,
Our truest and most loyal friend.

About this poem

This is a poem that I wrote when we had just got our Lab puppy. The feelings of that moment hit me and I just had to get it out and on paper.

I would not consider myself a poet but I like to write what I feel. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but it is true to me. more…
