Tangled Ties

Scrambling to declutter the mess in my mind,
My perception of "crazy" ebbs and flows,
Leaving me trapped and tightly entwined,
In a bind that nobody knows.

What must I do to authenticate,
The reality that this is me, a screwed-up bird,
Trapped in a pear tree, in a sinking state?
It's time to speak before I am unheard.

Don't lock up the bottle of my self-doubt,
Or my wit will implode in pain.
Trust me, the damage will come about,
And the long, dark path will remain.

Let's talk it out, my friend, and find a way,
To break free and face a brighter day.

About this poem

This poem is about the struggle with distress, how one copes with it, and how it's perceived. What is "crazy"? Mental health is important and it's important we destigmatize what "crazy" is. I use nature as a metaphor to describe what goes on in the human mind.
