Second Option
When it's just
You and me
And no one else around
You talk to me like
I am the only one
Together it seems
Time doesn't exist
Our conversations forming
Memories I thought were
Un B r e a k
a b l e
Then something shinier
Prettier, smarter than me
Shows up
You know I don't like her
And she feels the same towards me
So you have to choose
Either my friendship or hers
I was not worried
I thought I knew you
Yet when you went
With her I felt
My glass heart shattering
Cutting me apart
You promised me
We were friends forever
And even lied outright
That you would never leave me
Even if the moon and stars were
Gone
I was your stone to hold on
Through the tides of your sadness
Comforted you in your pain
Tried to solve your problems
Just because I can't
Express myself
In showy emotional exchanges
Doesn't mean I never
Cared about you
I tried my best
To keep ahold of you
I did everything you wanted
Yet it was never enough
For you
I am just your second option
There is always someone else
That you would choose to
Laugh louder, smile wider with
I always think
You are gone forever
Yet you always come back
When she goes away
Needing me to be the someone
That will always be there
But you don't consider me
When you leave me standing alone
You never understand me
If only you knew
My mind is filled with
All the possibilities
Of why you leave me
Spin around and around
Leaving me even more
Confused than before
I wish I could tell you this
Have one of those heart to hearts
Like those cheesy tv shows
But I fear I would lose you
Even more if
I mess up
