Neville Bonner

Neville Bonner,
Was born an Yugambeh Man
Under a palm tree.

His mother took care
But, when he was only ten,
His mother succumbed.

Grandma then took care,
But she died three years later
So he lived alone.

That made him to leave
And move to New South Wales
He lived By himself.

Five long years later,
He tried to join World War two
They got rejected.

Three full years later
He married Mona Bonner,
Then he moved houses

In 1960,
Bonner moved houses again,
Moved to palm Island.

Cannot join Labor
In 1967,
So he joined Liberal.

Four good years later,
Signed a Senate Vacancy
First to take the seat.

In another year,
Very unfortunately,
His wife passed away.

After she deceased,
Neville married again,
To Heather Ryan.

Seven Years later,
Won Australian of the year,
With another two.

1983,
Voted out of senator
Now independent.

After nine whole years,
Went to university,
Received doctorate.

1998,
Got into Constitution,
Gave a renowned speech.

After one busy year,
Sadly, he then met one’s death,
In february.

He’ll be remembered
As someone who changed the life,
Of many natives.
