Constellation Aquila

Constellation Aquila

Look ye up on the north, me lads
It bays by the starboard mooring
Pray ye be not the eagles quest
As winds from wings come roaring

It riles the sea to solid wall
Breaks masts like rotten timber
Sweeps the seaman to his grave
Ne’er again to be remembered

Howls like evil dragons sounding
Waves frothy cold—then crystal ice
Caught in Aquila’s frozen talons
Venture there and pay the price

North Sea vessels all take warning
He’ll spare no mercy on your souls
But shatter your hull, flood your holds
He’ll cast your bones in frozen shoals

The eagle guards his ice bound lair
Best ye ne’er go forth
Set course abaft of his cursedly fold
Behold the king of the north
