"Tis Not The Theologian

'Tis not the theologian who comes to
best know and become e'er close and
familiar with God but the simple and
child-like of heart and nature -

'Tis not the preacher that proclaims the
text of Scripture each and every
weekend's worship services that best
give  witness to Christ-like character
and greatly of godliness, mature.

'Tis not the missionary, here or overseas
that  faces a pagan and heathen
culture each and everyday singularly
but also you and I among many folk and
people to be e'er a witness and bear a
Christ-like image -

'Tis then, e'er so distinctly to seek out and
truly know the very God who is - quite to
proclaim His redemptive gospel wherever
we go and are, duly become our God's
emissary amid this world's scrimmage*.

About this poem

Radical is the supposition here that it may not be the scholar, pastor nor the missionary who may be the close one to God in abiding relations -
