Less Extinct Bird

I always chose a chance to take,
when I open my heart
to something possibly fake.

Sincerity I hope for,
though in the past it almost always is,
well not something
that has a winning score.

A  score of how many times
that my heart has been stomped on or ignored;
A rhythm that goes to the beat of a drum:
every repetition, every measure
it all seems so real.
So new but on paper
it reads monotonous, its always the same,
not my best interest, not from you that is.

These vultures seem to be less extinct,
then the wholesome songbirds
that I love to meet.
Vultures that seem like
any bird with a song.
But with the blink of an eye,
outside they do perch
and down they will swoop
taking what they want for them
just as fast as the wind.

Until its too late,
they've fed on your stoop
down they've swept,
taken from you
what you wish you had kept.

Expectations I guess
for these birds should be lowered,
so you won't be destroyed
and left with a void.
Left destroyed by the bird
that call themselves a friend and loyal
but you're gonna be left in pain and turmoil.

Its exciting to think
you've found a new bird
with a new song,
but they always seem to
deceive you and
to drag you along.
Along on a flight,
where its all a facade:
honesty, respect, boundaries, and more
don't be fooled or they'll be pushing you
down to the floor.

If every time you think
a songbird is found,
don't be a fool or an idiot
and end up on the ground.
You'll be someone
who can't learn,
because its really just time
for someone else's turn.

A turn to gain your trust
and use it for them;
they'll get what they want
because to them its absolutely a game;
thats the vultures claim
to their fame.

A must that they think only for them,
because no one else matters
not you only them.

I don't quite understand
how selfish everyone is,
when in this world we all need a friend.
One that will sing a beautiful song
and be there for you today and forever all along.

Today its far and few between
to see a real songbird,
nearly extinct bird in your tree.

I know this one bird and she lives in my home
and together we are
and we sing our song.

I wish I could say that there
was never a day without song,
but the power of  vultures can be very strong.
Overcasting a shadow, blocking the sun
trying to make you have a day thats not fun.

But here's to the days
when I'm lucky to hear
the tune of her song.
And to see her tail father shake,
there's no way that her song its fake.

For my songbird so dear,
I feel lucky to call mine
For the days
and the some in between,
Ill be by her side and
under her wing.
Ill build a nest and
know that vultures will come,
but nothing can beat a perfect tune that will carry,
this will be the one that I marry.

Her melody will be heard and lucky I'll be,
Together we'll remain and Ill hear her song,
and know that beside me she stands
where she will and has every day all along.
