All or Nothing
Why do we play for keeps when we only get one heart? Why is it so difficult for us to walk through the meadow and experience it, never bringing it into the spotlight of comparison? That bright light that brings the heat of the sun when you stay in it for too long, burning up the solid foundations that were built with pure love. The few that manage to avoid the pitfalls of comparison must then escape the straitjacket of discontent that begins to tighten as anxiety creeps in. The uncertainty that forces the preservation of a state of happiness to become more urgent than the enjoyment of it. Sneaking in and rearranging priorities until we finally look up and notice that we’ve wandered into a completely unrecognizable environment, blind to the real issues because we’re too affected by a future that can never be guaranteed. What does it take to remain present and content with what this life provides for us without getting lost in the clouds of comparison and a longing for a greater adventure than the one we’re already on?
