for creating me hard and strong
otherwise
I would have been mettled
by the scotching and smouldering African Sun,
or even carried away
by a relentless African rainstorm.
Thank you God for giving me steadfast legs
otherwise
I would have been swept away
by the swift and violent rainstorms of Africa
Thank you God for giving me a resilient mind
otherwise
I would long ago gone crazy with the endless woes of Africa
Thank you God for giving me super sensitive eyesight
otherwise
I would have gone blind by beholding
the misdeeds of cruel African tyrants
Thank you God
for giving me
superlative auditory senses otherwise
I would gone deaf
by listening to the woeful deeds of cruel wicked men.
