Song # 40

Luis A. Estable 1958 (Oriente, Cuba)

You are of color white.
Golden you have your hair.
You are the morning light.
You eyes are colored blue.
It's true; it is so true.

I am of color black.
It's not straight my hair.
I am the night, alack!
My eyes nor blue or green.
With sadness I have been.

And can it be a fact,
The same made you made me?
I with some tears react.
You with happiness and joy.
I'm sad; you're happy, boy!
