I am an Essensial Worker
I am an Essential worker 1990 (Zeeland)
I am an Essential Worker
Whatever that means
I'm on the front lines
Stocking shelves
So you can get food, sanitizer and toilet paper you need
You come in wearing masks and gloves
Grabbing more than you need
Forgetting your fellow man
You're shopping selfishly
Your kids are out of school
So you frantically buy more
Afraid you won't have enough to feed
Your children when their home
I'm wearing a mask, I'm wearing gloves
As uncomfortable as I may be
I'm constantly in fear
That I will bring home this disease
I am stressed out
You need to be kind
And not get upset when something
Is out of stock
Your panic buying
What do you expect?
Were not allowed to order
Because of the pandemic
So when things are out for a bit
You have to be patient
First come first serve
Is what I can not say
All I can tell you is
We're out of it today
I sanitize
I wash my hands
But I do not understand
People are coming from
Everywhere
Downstate, other states
Bringing with them
The disease
Please I beg of you
Stay home stay safe
Protect your family and others
Use your common sense
Don't be a dunce
If some of you don't care
And you are selfish
Cause you know you will survive
You don't care that those weaker
Than you will possibly die
Everyday I fight back tears
Afraid and stressed I be
Everyday something changes
To make the horde
Plaque the stores once more
You touch every item before
You grab the one you want
Not a care in the world
Mt heart is racing
Everytime someone gets close
I want to scream Back Off
But I don't want to lose my job
