The Unrequited

You want meaning?
You won’t find it here.

The walrus claps for me.

Near the water’s shine,
Yet no ocean I hear.

The walrus claps for me.

They say lovers are blind,
So what of you, my dear?

The walrus claps for me.

I tried to speak,
But my heart chose fear.

The walrus claps for me.

I cried for a day,
Though it felt like a year.

The walrus claps for me.

I noticed the sound,
and caught it with my ear.

The walrus claps for me.

I burst into laughter,
It became finally clear!

The walrus claps for me.
