Smiling Call

Elizabeth Marie Deese 1987 (Charlotte, NC)

Every morning you're smiling bright
When you come to daylight.
I never see a frown on your little face.
You're full of Joy every day and in every way.
When I wake up and miss your beautiful smile, it is hard to finish the day.
You are my wake up call to go on my way.

About this poem

It is about my little sister. When we were children and how she woke up every morning, stumbling the hallway, looking adorable as always. She passed in 2018 at the age of 26. I was 30. My only sister is gone, but never forgotten.
