In Times of Old

In times of old, when hearts were bold,
And love was fair and true,
A maiden fair with golden hair
Did bid her love adieu.

Her heart was torn, her soul forlorn,
Her love had gone astray,
Yet hope remained, though love was waned,
And hope would light her way.

With tears she cried, with pain inside,
She mourned her lover's loss,
Yet in her heart, a glimmer sparked,
A hope that was not lost.

For though her love had left her side,
And gone beyond the sea,
She knew that time would heal her wounds,
And set her spirit free.

So with a heart that's pure and true,
She faced each new-born day,
With hope and faith that one day soon,
Her love would find his way.

And in her heart, a prayer she sent,
That love would find its way,
And bring her back the one she loved,
On some sweet summer's day.
