Hospital stay

Something has happened to me
That's given me a fright
And I've been taken to hospital
To get me put right

I've been taken by nurses
Up to a ward
I've been here a while
And I'm already bored

So I'm starting ty look
Up and down in the hall
And all I can see
Is a clock on the wall

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

A nurse came to see me
And gave me a smile
And said let's get you comfortable
You'll be here for a while

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

I'm woken early each morning
As I get a bed bath
It's a little embarrassing for me
And I have a short nervous laugh

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

Then breakfast arrives
And they're at their old tricks
They fill up my bowl
With cheap weet-a-bix

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

Then nurses visit
All of the beds
Doing the obs
And dispensing the meds

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

Then my hopes are raised
As visiting times near
My family all come
And fill me with cheer.

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

As visiting times finishes
And my visitors go
I'm left here alone
And so full woe

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

Then tea time comes
I don't know what I've got
I hope its a Kiev
Crispy and hot

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

Now visiting time is
Here at last
My family's all here
And we'll all have a blast

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

8 o'clock is here again
And visiting time ends
And I have to say goodbye
To my family and my friends

And all I can hear
Is the tick and the tock
As I stare at the wall
Watching the clock

A nurse comes and tells me
Come on  please don't moan
I've got some good news or you
Tomorrow you are going home

So no more will I hear
That tick and that tock
And I won't be staring at the wall
Watching the clock

I know I've been blessed
By the man up above
I'm going back home now
To the family I love.
