FAIR and IMPARTIAL

Diane Lutey 1962 (New York)

March 23

Fair and Impartial
Is exactly what it means
I witnessed this in jury duty
A couple days last week

I served my civic responsibilities
With all ages and ethnicities
To reach a unanimous verdict came easily
But not from the self-preservation type testimonies

It was the silent cell phone video that spoke volumes
As we sat and watched it in the courtroom
It was domestic violence and complicity
That we all found her guilty

About this poem

True story. I served on a jury and if it wasn't for the cell phone video, it would have been difficult to convict with all the lies being told.
