Energy Sucker

Gosh you piss me off
You and your selfish ways
Rude in your every move
And in everything you say

It’s amazing how unaware you are
Thinking the world revolves around you
But could be wrong with me?
For staying through and through

It’s been over 13 years now
And now I’m really f*king done
The hurt you’ve caused lives inside me
But this time I have won

Because you want to stay in my life
But I won’t let that happen
I’ll prosper and grow through strife
And you’ll be left with famine

You see I don’t owe you an explanation
For why I disappeared
Or why you didn’t receive an invitation
To my event next year

The agony will live inside you
The way it’s lived inside me
You’re a damn energy sucker
Selfish for the charge you need

About this poem

In life, there are people I like to call “energy suckers.” They are extremely self unaware individuals whose behavior pulls the energy from your body leaving you feeling hurt, ashamed, and empty. They subtly disrespect you, your time, and the people you love. I find they are often charismatic individuals, which makes them hard to leave. This poem is a good riddance to an energy sucker I let stay in my life for far too long.
