DOUBLE WORLDS

Rose Adhiambo 2001 (Kombewa)

All was so cool at the beginning
Say hi was supposed to be the first move
Some steps forward and back
Scratching the mind with a bewildered phrase.

A party invite late at night
I couldn't say no cause my mind
kept on insisting I shouldn't resist
I should go and see for myself.

A toast of wine and some blue cherries
He came over to take a glance
I smiled back with disgust
I wish he knew I wasn't too good.

Fell for my traps
A win declared to my side
I acted the noble shepherd and the lamb
It was all too good to believe!

I saw all his confidence in one box
His masculinity packed all secure
Until it was my turn to ask him for a flight to Texas
I never saw his face again
This is a double world and we can't match
I played my cards too perfectly!
