Black Swan...

Remi Chanelle 1990 (Washington DC)

If I can't be loved for my insides
Then understand why I feel so ugly
These dark feathers don't mirror
The Angel that I am within
Or how I praise a God above me.
These long limbs are perfect to me
Why can't I be loved for my stride?
How I make magic when I walk
Or the way I glide?
I step into these shark waters with no fear
Dark.
Just like my feathers
But why can't I be loved for my insides?
There's color in this soul of mine
Though I'm living with a black heart
And these black feathers tell the story
I'm a swan still.
Tall, the way I stride.
Beautiful. They can't deny.
Standing out like one black rose
In a red rose garden
I don't hide.
Why can't I be loved for my outside?
I am a swan still.
Pain just dipped me in black.
But there's color inside.
Love me for both
Even though, there's pain on the outside...
