"Hail Rodentia! Hail!"

Hail Rodentia!'
In our family tree
And I mean that literally
We have craftsmen
Plying every trade.
We have "scavengers" and "scurriers."
We have "builders" and "burrowers."
We have "wheel turners," "earthmovers."
We have "pen makers."
And "genus Marmota."

We are vast, and we are varied.
And our images are carried everywhere.

We are cute, and we are scary
We are fast, and we are hairy
We can fly and jump and roll
Get into any hole anywhere.

We are urban, and we're rural.
Our dominion explorable - In every State & Country that's a fact

We are "Icons" of the world
When our "banner is unfurled," - It will read!"

'ALL HAIL RODENTIA!"  "ALL HAIL!"

About this poem

At a very early age, I was introduced to the writings of Robert Burns. His Ode/Address to a mouse - was an incredible homage to "rodent-dom!"
