Economy Holds the Reins

Oscar Auliq-Ice 1994 (Port Elizabeth)

In the world of trade and finance,
Where money flows like a river's dance,
The economy holds the reins,
And guides us through prosperity or pains.

With numbers and graphs, it speaks its mind,
And shows us how to be efficient and kind,
To balance the budgets, and reduce the debt,
And ensure that our lives are well set.

It's a game of supply and demand,
Where markets rule and prices command,
The goods and services that we all need,
To thrive and succeed in life indeed.

The wheels of commerce never cease,
As people trade for their daily needs,
From farms and factories to tech and finance,
The economy keeps us in a trance.

But amidst the growth and wealth we see,
There lies a shadow that cannot be unseen,
Of inequality and exploitation,
That threaten to undermine our nation.

So let us strive for a fairer share,
And create an economy that's truly rare,
One that serves both rich and poor,
And leaves no one behind, forevermore.
