Into The World Of Blue; The Wonders and Threats of Marine Life

Khizar Hayat 2003 (Karachi)

Marine life, oh so diverse,
bonded with creatures that immerse,
from the depths of the ocean blue,
their flawlessness and grace always anew.

So far, we've just unearthed A mere trace,
Of the magic that lies within that place.
With 95% yet to be explored,
What beauties lie in wait, to be adored?

Dolphins that swim and play,
with A grace that takes our breath away,
whales that sing and roam so free,
majestic beings of the sea.

So let us adore what we have in view,
And work to respect the life that's true.
And imagine what may still be found,
In the depths below, where life abounds.

Under the water, A world of peace,
where troubles and pain find release,
in the embrace of the ocean so wide,
serenity, joy, and peace will abide.

The ocean's beauty, once so pure,
now threatened by what we endure,
our actions, neglect, and waste,
marine life and its balance we taste.

Oh nitrogen, A double-edged sword,
for us, A gift, for marine life, so abhorred,
let us be mindful, of our actions so true,
for the ocean, its wildlife, and me and you.

Trapped in glass walls, in A world so small,
marine life is forced like to stand and crawl,
no room to swim, no place to play,
no escape from the stares of tourists each day.

The ocean deep and blue,
a world so vast and grand,
a home to creatures too,
that live in every strand.

Plastics floating in the waves,
pollution choking the shore,
the damage we have done,
can’t be ignored anymore.

We think the marine life is endless, that it can sustain, but its resources are finite, and it can only withstand, so much abuse and neglect, before it’s too late, and we’ll lose A precious world, that we didn’t appreciate.

We took what we wanted, and never gave back,
our greed, our progress, on nature's track.
Now the sea rises, A force to be feared,
reminding us all, that we're not so revered.

The sea rises, its anger clear,
its revenge for man's exploitation nearby.
Once calm and blue, now churning and wild,
the coastlines and islands, no longer so mild.

For the sea is more than just sight,
a place of beauty and delight,
oh humans, we have caused this harm,
to the marine life, its beauty now warm.

& Yes marine, A world of life,
that must be protected with might.
It's time to act, to make A change,
for the ocean, its wildlife, and our planet to arrange.
