THE CAGED BIRD

THE CAGED BIRD

I know of the tale
of a caged bird

And there, in it's cage,
it sings really beautiful songs

of pain, of sorrow,
of things to come, of freedom

but no one ever said
how it got caged

Did it walked into the cage
or was it in someway, deceived?

Or was it was captured
and stripped of its freedom?

And so the bird,
looking past inhibitions, decided that

since it couldn't use its wings,
it would use its voice

and somehow,
that brought it solace

And this very tale,
got me thinking

That maybe, the most
beautiful of songs

comes from the most
vulnerable of states;

maybe the most
beautiful of stories

are born from the things
that seem to hold us back.

About this poem

It's about the fact that sometimes we are in our own cage and maybe we don't know how we ended up there, but somehow, it brings us peace.
