Reborn through Discomfort : The Evolution of Self
In the stillness of the night,
I contemplate
The pain of starting over,
and the fear
That grips my heart,
as I long to create
A life that's free
from all that I held dear.
But I'm afraid
of losing what I know,
And of the road
that I must travel now.
I know that in this journey
I will learn,
And from the pain
of starting over,
grow
Into a newer,
stronger self,
and turn
Away from all
that kept me trapped,
below
My potential.
But it's the fear of change
That holds me back,
and makes my heart
feel strange.
I long to reach
for something better,
yet
The past still grips me,
and I can't forget
The love,
the loss,
the longing,
and the pain
That shaped me
into who I am today.
But if I stay stuck in my past,
I'll remain
A prisoner of my own fear,
and stray
Away from all the beauty
life can offer.
So,
I embrace the pain
of starting over,
And step into the unknown,
with the hope
Of finding something greater
than I've known.
For though the journey
may be hard to cope,
The prize is worth the pain
that I'll have sown.
And as I journey forth,
I'll write my verse
In language that is unfamiliar,
yet
Evokes the deepest feelings
of my heart.
I'll use my gift of words
to paint a picture,
Rich in vivid imagery
and metaphor,
That celebrates the power
of new beginnings,
And the beauty that's born
from the pain of starting over.
The repetition of my thoughts
in rhyme,
Like a musical
and contemplative chime,
Echoes the emotions
that I can't ignore,
As I face the fear
and longing at my core.
For to reach for a better life,
I must let go,
Of all that held me back,
and caused me woe.
I must shed the skin
of who I used to be,
And embrace the new self
that's waiting to be free.
And so, with every step,
I leave behind,
The past that kept me stuck,
and intertwined,
With a version of myself
that's no longer true,
For the pain of starting over
is what I must pursue.
But in this pain,
there is a seed of hope,
That sprouts and grows
and helps me cope,
With the uncertainty
that lies ahead,
And the fear of what
I might have to shed.
For though the journey
may be steep,
And the obstacles ahead
may seem too deep,
I know that with each step,
I'll grow and learn,
And become the person
I was born to discern.
And as I write these words,
I feel the fire,
Of passion, and devotion,
and desire,
To reach for a life
that's better than before,
And to embrace the pain
of starting over once more.
For in this pain,
there is a newer me,
A version that's stronger,
wiser,
and free,
From all the chains
that once held me back,
And from the fear
that kept me off the track.
So, don't be afraid
of starting anew,
For in the pain,
there's beauty that's true,
And a newer,
stronger,
smarter version of you,
That's waiting to evolve,
and to break through.
As I journey
on this path of growth,
I find my heart expanding
like an oath,
To never settle
for the past that's gone,
But to keep evolving
and moving on.
The pain of staying stuck
in what has been,
Is far more than the pain
of starting again,
For in the former,
I'll never find my way,
To a life that's brighter
and full of sway.
So,
I embrace the pain
of starting anew,
And allow myself
to become someone new,
For there's a beauty
in the process of growth,
That's worth far more
than the comfort of the old.
With every step I take,
I leave behind,
The parts of me
that no longer align,
With the vision of the person
I want to be,
And the life
that's waiting ahead of me.
And though the road
may be long and hard,
And the pain of starting over
may leave me
scarred,
I know that with each step,
I'll gain new strength,
And grow into the person
I was meant to be at length.
