The Midnight Beams

Wilderness is flowering
 And calls the cougar scream
 Deep and interesting moods
Are felt
 in the ice cold stream
myriad mushrooms
          And
Mosses fragrant
among
 the air we breathe
Gazing upon the butterfly
 design
 and the chimpanzee
Our conscience and our mind

The honey and the honey bee
What discoveries must we find
Silence touches tenderly
The understory spines

Balsam fir whispers fragrantly
It cries out to us to dream
Amidst
 mountain ash and lavender
And everything we see

What about the clouds up there
That sail down to brush our cheek
And hovers over the watercress
That lavishes the creek

The moonlight is promising
To fall
Just out of reach
 it seems
It's singing and it's sighing
Can you hear
 the midnight beams

And when time is arising
And hibernations full
Eternity's beginning
And our history unfolds
Will we be living with thanksgiving
Or lost souls
