Beast

A wild beast prowls within my thoughts so unkind,
Its sharp claws shred through, leaving me confined,
It traps my soul, refusing to unwind,
And grips my heart tight, no matter what I find.

The beast thrives on my anguish and despair,
Forsaking my chance to heal, to simply repair,
It tempts me with visions of her, beyond compare,
Compelling me to question, who's with her out there?

It commands me to ravage my friends, my trusted kin,
For daring to love the girl who brought me into this spin,
It's anxious to instigate, to stir up chaos and chagrin,
For choosing someone who left me with wounds that won't thin.

This fiend confines me to perpetual anguish,
For a girl who proved to be disloyal, untrue, and languish,
She cast me aside like an inconsequential wish,
But the beast stokes my ire, seeking to avenge and tarnish.

I desire to break free from the oppressive grasp,
To liberate myself and show courage at last,
To let go of this pain, this suffering that has surpassed,
To seek peace and freedom, to feel complete and amassed.
