Trying To Write About Cancer
Trying To Write About Cancer
“Come back, in a few days”
William Epson
The orange and red leaves that drop in bunches
from tired branches in early autumn are
at this moment falling only one at a time;
one by one a single leaf breaks off
at its stem as the season pauses for me
while I think about the color of death.
