Pardon Me, Lord

Pardon me, Lord, have you seen my dog?
He seems to have gotten away.
He was growling to warn me of danger somewhere,
But I was looking the other way.

Pardon me, Lord, have you seen my friend?
She seems to have wandered away.
She was trying to show me soemthing she made,
But i was looking the other way.

Pardon me, Lord, have you seen my child?
He has grown up and gone away.
He was trying to tell me his hopes and his dreams,
But I was looking the other way.

Pardon me, Lord, have you seen my spouse?
I think he has gone astray.
He was trying to kiss me on the cheek,
But I was looking the other way.

Pardon me, Lord, can you spare my life?
I feel that it's ebbing away.
It seems it's been wasted, but I'm not sure how,
I was looking the other way.

Pardon me, Lord, can you answer me?
I can't seem to hear what you say.
I can't see your face, and I don't understand
Why you're looking the other way.
