Hey there, how’s it going?
It’s me, the voice in your head
I’m always sneering and laughing
Poisoning your mind like lead
I know sometimes you hate me
Or I make you feel unsure
But you also really need me
Or you’ll get all lonely in there
I’m probably your best friend
The only one who understands
I’m always there listening
The only true friend you ever had
Sure, I guess I’m a little toxic
I leave your self-confidence in shreds
Yet you always let me inside
I’m probably the reason you think you need meds
About this poem
One’s inner voice is always there, whether we like it or not. It can cripple us with self doubt or entertain us in moments of intense boredom. This was my attempt of putting it into words.
