Golden Age

Fading woman,
The bigger the age the little she exists.
Working overdose,
To keep you working, how many times have you almost?

Hands reach out,
Opening your eyes and lifting your head.
Visibly alive
But internally dead.

You reach out now
As you’ve came around,
But the hands disappear
Through the merciless crowd.

The cut-off age awaits.
They kick your crawling body over the finish line,
You’re of no use.
You’ve done your time.

Physically set free,
Mentally encaged.
You never understood what was so golden
About the golden age.
