Delivering Flowers

I never felt like the most
Special person in the world.
Working for a florist in Albany.
Barely paid, something to do
Seemed worthless
But the highlight of my life.
There was one time I delivered flowers
In the hospital.
I remember the elation I got from everyone
In the elevator, in the hallways
And especially to that unwell
And unhappy soul.
Wow, did I ever see someone light up
The glare within their inner light
The joy between their heart’s beats
What is it about flowers?
I paint them, so many artists do,
Elaborations of grandeur
Ecstasy of greater conscious presence
I deliver flowers to you all
In this poem
In the beauty of love and nature’s pure giving.
