Another human race

Living life in slavery where  every day is a test of our bravery
How many had to die before you heard a single cry
Singing  negro spirituals became our rituals
Tried to steal our history and turn us into a mystery
We came up from the hate to live with a clean slate
You say you need us and yet you beat us
We slept on the floor and you closed your door
We lost our loved ones without ultimatums
You sold us on auctions” Here are all your options
Our ancestors fought the good fight now it is up to us to fight till it's right
When you look in our faces what do you see  a disgrace or another human race?
