Animal Perspective
We once roamed free beneath the sun,
Our world was wild, our lives were one.
But now we watch with eyes so pained,
As humans rule, and nature's chained.
They've built their towers high and wide,
With concrete walls on every side.
The trees we called our homes are gone,
The fields we roamed, now tamed and done.
They hunted us for sport and gain,
Til all that's left is fear and pain.
Our brothers, sisters, friends and kin,
Lie dying in a world so thin.
The air we breathe is thick with smoke,
The rivers choked, the oceans broke.
The food we eat is filled with waste,
Our bodies weak, our lives debased.
We cry out loud, but no one hears,
Our prayers unheard, our souls in tears.
We watch in awe, as humans strive,
To claim it all, to stay alive.
But in their quest, they've lost their way,
And doomed us all to swift decay.
We plead with them, to see the light,
And save our world, before it's night.
But still they march, with blinded eyes,
Their greed and power, their only prize.
Our fate is sealed, we know it well,
As darkness falls, and all is hell.
About this poem
This poem is written from the perspective of animals watching the evolution of human civilization and the subsequent destruction of the natural world. The poem uses vivid language and imagery to portray the impact of human activities such as hunting, deforestation, pollution, and industrialization on the ecosystem and its inhabitants. The animals' pleas for help fall on deaf ears as humans continue to prioritize their own desires and ambitions over the welfare of the planet. The poem is dark and powerful, evoking a sense of sadness and despair as the animals witness the devastation of their habitat and their own extinction. Overall, the poem is a poignant reflection on humanity's impact on the environment and the need for greater awareness and action to address these issues. more »
