Libby

Eileen Goldberg 1950 (Brooklyn)

Good bye to the light known as Libby,
 her spirit’s been lifted away.
The pain and the suffering have ended
for the gentlest of souls this sad day.
Explaining the way that she touched me,
her smile and that small tattooed frame.
Seems like an impossible mission,
yet, I’d bet that we all feel the same.
An angel who once walked among us
is now part of all that is seen.
So hard to accept that no longer exists
the person that she once had been.
Her courage, her strength, her will to
survive, the example she was, it’s
so hard to describe.
Yes, she left her mark, it will always
endure, in the world that she left,
of that I am sure.
