Riding In Taxis at Twilight

      Riding In Taxis at Twilight

The air held the times
It felt different from now
The sexiness was subtle
Found in men’s hats worn low over one brow
Loosened neckties welcoming the late afternoon sun
Women’s dresses tight bodiced with tiny waist’s giving way to the swish of a full skirt and lips painted in beautiful, bright colors
Horn music playing over the radio moaning the sounds of desire
Full harmonies crescendoing to a tangible stimulation of emotions
Low spoken conversations with open mouthed smiles and casually crossed legs
Sunsets give way to dusk while synthetic lights set the stage for the exquisite, electric excitement of night life
What might come?

About this poem

The title was in my mind for years. It was my imagined future as a young girl waiting to be an adult.
