My Own Path

I am not the man you need
I ride on my own lane
I’ve got no time to be a pleaser
I am neither you nor them
I don’t reflect your cycle.

I am not your soul mate
I do not action your orders
Certainly, not your construe will
I am not who you need
Not your perfect connection.

I am not the moon you seek
Surely I am not your yes-man
Nor the solitary star of your night
I am not who you need
At least not your own wheeler

I don’t trail your steps
Like an oath in the miller
I get refined by the day
I don’t mirror your mission
I’ve got my own version

They say you are the eye at the centre
But I’ve got no gravity to statue
Like a man on a mission I’ve got my own mantle
No moment to sober
Nor time to fickle.
