Sweeter than Honey

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

You paint a picture Lord,
That’s worth a thousand words.
And when I see that picture Lord,
I know just what I heard.

How easily the honey flows,
When it’s not so cold anymore.
How easily thanksgiving rose,
When my knees had hit the floor.

The love I feel is not imagined;
In fact, it’s very real.
A kiss, a hug, a sweet embrace,
And with His Spirit sealed.

I never could have loved him first,
Or brought Him any glory;
But He first loved and wrote to me,
On every page of His story!

And now I sit here quiet and still,
Just writing another poem.
I’m only waiting for you sweet Lord,
To come and lead me home.
