Baby Boy

Amanda M. Sparvell 1987 (Fort Carson, El Paso Colorado)

He's a feisty little boy
She's an emotionally driven mom
Filling his room with love and toys
As she cries silently through his laughter

He's been the man of the house for years
So as a child of course he screams and pouts
There's a sadness in his eyes as he sees his momma cry
He'll squeeze her tight and say momma it's alright

He's the sunshine in her eyes that makes her stand and fight
He's her moonlight on the dark and cloudy nights
He's her life and forever her greatest treasure

Through the long sleepless nights, hospital stays, and constant fights
He's the reason she prevails and pulls them away from the fiery pits of hell

She's not perfect but seeks perfection for the one she holds dear...

Forever and always her Baby Boy

About this poem

I wrote this poem a few days after my son was admitted to the hospital. I wanted him to know how much he means to me and that I would stand alongside of him through the darkest days.
