The Laughter and the Truth: A Reflection on Election Time

As election time draws near, the people gather,
With laughter and mirth, they come to decide
Who will rule them with wisdom, truth, and power,
And who will lead them on a path of pride.

But lo, as the candidates take the stage,
Their words are sugar-coated, full of lies,
Their manifestos, a mere mirage,
A façade, a sham, a disguise.

Like the feasts of old Greek times, they feed,
The populace with drinks and food, a treat,
But when the laughter and revelries cease,
Their true intentions, they will reveal and beat.

For they speak of peace, unity, and love,
But their actions, a different story prove.

With promises of change, they do entice,
The masses, to vote for them with delight,
But when the votes are counted and the prize,
Is theirs, their true motives come to light.

Their campaigns, a show, a comedy,
A farce, a satire, a mockery.

For as the great Shakespeare wrote in “Hamlet,”
“To thine own self, be true,” they do say,
But when it comes to politics, they’re quick,
To break that oath and lead us astray.

And so, we laugh, as the election nears,
For the laughter, a cover for our fears.

For we fear the future, the unknown fate,
That will be brought upon us by these men,
Who mask their true intentions with a debate,
And hide behind the laughter and the pen.

But we must not let their words deceive,
We must choose wisely, with reason and belief.

For as the great Dante wrote in “Inferno,”
“Abandon hope, all ye who enter here,”
For if we choose the wrong candidate,
Our future will be filled with endless fear.

So let us laugh, from manifesto to prom-
ises, from rallies to debates,
But let us not forget the truth that’s hidden,
And the laughter, a mask for their deceit.

For election time is not a time for fight,
But a time for laughter, not for brawl and plight.

And yet, we must not fall into despair,
For there is hope, a glimmer in the dark,
A leader, who cares, who’s fair and square,
Who’ll bring us out of this endless mark.

A leader, who’ll listen to the people’s cries,
Who’ll work for the common good, not just for fame,
Who’ll lead with wisdom, justice, and truth, in guise,
And not be swayed by power, wealth, or shame.

For such a leader, we must search and find,
And support with all our hearts, with all our might,
For only then, can we leave behind,
The laughter and the darkness of the night.

And as the great Rumi wrote in his verse,
“The wound is the place where the light enters you.”

For the wound of our society, the pain,
Is the very place, where the light will shine,
And the laughter of the election, the gain,
Will give way to a future, that’s divine.

So let us laugh, from manifesto to promises,
And sugar-coated words, let us not be swayed,
For the laughter of the election, the basis,
Of a brighter future, in which we’ll be made.

And let us not forget, the power in our voice,
The power to choose, to make a difference,
For in this election, we’ve been given a choice,
To shape our future, with our own existence.

And though the laughter may be filled with jest,
Let us not be blinded by the show,
For the future of our country, is at its best,
When we choose wisely, and let the laughter go.

For as the great Milton wrote in “Paradise Lost,”
“The mind is its own place, and in itself,
Can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.”

And so it is with this election, our choice,
To make a heaven of our country’s fate,
Or let it fall into the depths of hell,
And be lost in the laughter and debate.

So let us laugh, from manifesto to promises,
But let us not forget, the power in our hands,
For the laughter of the election, the basis,
Of a future, that’s free, just, and grand.

And let us not forget the lessons of the past,
The mistakes, the triumphs, the struggles and more,
For they are the building blocks, that will last,
And shape the future, as we move forward.

And so, let us embrace the laughter, with open hearts,
And not be afraid, to ask the tough questions,
For only then, can we make a smart start,
And choose a leader, with wise decisions.

For the laughter of the election, is not just a sound,
But a symbol of hope, of change, of growth,
And the power to choose, a precious reward,
To shape our future, and lead us to a better world.

So let us laugh, from manifesto to promises,
And choose wisely, with reason and belief,
For the laughter of the election, the basis,
Of a future, that’s full of peace and relief.

And let us not forget, the power of education,
In this election, as we seek the truth,
For with education, we have the foundation,
To make informed decisions, and break through.

To think critically, and seek the facts,
And choose a leader, who’s honest and kind,
And not be swayed by the laughter and the acts.

For the future of our country, is at stake,
And the laughter of the election, a mere facade,
For the true test, is in the choices we make,
And the courage to choose, with wisdom and fortitude.

Of a future, that’s enlightened, and filled with acknowledgement.

And let us not forget, the power of empathy,
In this election, as we seek to understand,
For with empathy, we have the ability,
To connect and relate, to heal and expand.

For as the great Mother Teresa once said,
“I know God won't give me anything I can't handle.
I just wish he didn't trust me so much.”

And so it is with this election, our trust,
In the ability to choose, with empathy and care,
And work together, to find solutions just,
And build a future, that’s fair and aware.

For the future of our country, is in our hands,

For the true test, is in the choices we make,
And the courage to choose, with empathy in our eyes.

In this election, as we face challenges ahead,
For with perseverance, we have the endurance,

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling,
But in rising every time we fall.”

And so it is with this election, our rise,
To choose a leader, who’s strong and resilient,
And work together, to overcome any strife,
And build a future, that’s hopeful and brilliant.

And though the laughter may be fleeting,
Let us not forget, the importance of believing.

For the future of our country, is in our hands,
And the laughter of the election, a mere disguise,
For the true test, is in the choices we make,
And the courage to choose, with perseverance in our eyes.

“We must accept finite disappointment,
But never lose infinite hope.”

To choose a leader, who’s visionary and bold,
And work together, to overcome any slope,
And build a future, that’s promising and old.
