Take a Moment

What if this life,
If not just misery and pain.
Why do we get up every morning,
Only to get caught up in the rain.

If every day is a gift,
Then where do I go to return,
This miserable priceless gift,
That I would much rather see burn.

Who’s going to save me,
From others or from myself.
Every day I feel like a miserable wretch,
Why did I put the rope on the top shelf.

“Where did all his money go”,
“Why does he always stay at home?”
Maybe they will find the answers,
When a blow a hole through my dome.

Empathy to all those around us,
Is what people want to preach.
But what happened to sympathy,
To those just within arms reach.

“If only there was a sign!”
They will all cry out together.
Maybe if you truly cared,
We would have discussed more than weather.

So don’t cry for me,
I’ve only shed my mortal coil.
It’s all of you that are left in hell,
Doing what is your daily toil.

Dark, but but brutally honest viewpoint.
