Resiliency

Resiliency-

The thoughts are intrusive,
this smiles a facade.
How can happiness be so elusive?
I'm truly a fraud.

Heavy is how I would describe depression,
but I remain steady
as I navigate its lesson.

It dampens the burden,
having friends and family
near,
but one things for certain,
I still live in fear.

One day I'll be free,
the weight will be lifted,
and through my vulnerability
true peace, I'll be gifted.

You're not alone,
we all share in sorrow.
Remember how much you've grown,
and pray for a better tomorrow.

About this poem

I’ve recently had some highs and low in life and decided to pick up the pen again for the first time in probably 15 years or so. I’ve had so many thoughts in my head and decided it was time to put something out there, and hope other people can relate and find peace through their own struggles.
