Memories

Memories by Akaninyene Goodluck Deborah
I took a trip right down the memory lane,
Thinking all about the plans we made,
Where and how did we ever go wrong?
Some say it was meant to be,
Some say we’ll still see,
I’d like to believe I fate that brought us together,
A repeating dream that became a reality.

You were fire and I was ice.
Thinking about those days I can’t help the tears.
Those times we cried,
And those times we laughed.
Those times we sang,
And those times we danced.

Those times when we will stay up all night,
Those fight with words and then with pillows.
When we waited,
Holding hands and hugging, did we really do that?

Let’s talk about those lines I read and those lyrics I crammed.
Every name you knew; I knew them also.
Those minutes, those hours that turned into days,
Those months we thought will always be there.

Hey,
Sharing those secrets,
Laughing our hearts out.

Reliving life won’t be the same,
Got separated though we didn’t have the plans,
If I could turn hands of the clock I wouldn’t miss the chance.

I took a trip right down the memory lane,
Thinking all about the plans we made,
Where and how did we ever go wrong?

About this poem

This poem is synonymous to a heartfelt letter written during the time my best friend left me to a different school. It was a sad period for me, and I poured my heart in the way I could. This may sound cliche but truly she was and still is my ride or die.
