LOVE’S END

James Ahmu 1953 (Auckland)

Every love evolves through stages
Passage through life, time and years it ages.
From the ecstatic, explosive and life changing start
Hearts once irrevocably joined, detach and drift apart.

Hard to believe, a love once so strong and true
Has lost the connection that once bound
An entity of one has become two
Their mutual loving eyes now not to be found.

After all the things vowed, said and done
When dreams and futures were forever in the sun
Echo’s of the once intense love still remain
It’s power and passion, like a dragon, has been slain

The pain of final separation and the end of a bond
Is always hard, filled with regrets and sorrow
Just need to keep moving forward and beyond
Searching for a new life, in a bright sunny tomorrow

About this poem

I tend to write poems when a major event occurs in my life, that causes me to reflect. In this case, a break up of a relationship, at a few weeks afer its 24th year anniversary.
