I Am He

I Am He

I am he
the he who prevents me from being
the kind and gentle man
society both heeds and yet shuns

yes indeed
I am he

It is because
I am angry
and oftentimes a cantankerous one
who decrees the values of yesteryears
smiting the present generation's
insanities
catastrophies
atrocities

I am he
walking amongst those who
blend God with well meaning justifications called sin

yes indeed
I am he

the one who seems to have
an opinion about everything
calling a spade a spade
a brother a brother
a heathen a heathen
a wolf in sheep's clothing

calling out those who
sit before the stage
yielding nothing more than
rotten and useless fruit
with crowns and hands raised

yes indeed
I am he

so where does this leave me
within these final days
do my decrees equate to finishing well

I think not

how Lord do I obey thee
how do I love lambs and sheep
who both praise and deny thee

I am

but aren't we all
broken and misunderstood temporaries
within the convenient or abiding wisdoms we choose
making headway down either
narrow or broadened paths

yes indeed
I am he
we are we
exactly or far adrift from the whom
God created us to be

according to the Good Book

Michael A. Hernandez

I am a professional counselor in private practice for another 20 years. I have witnessed vast personality types and realize that humanity can justify anything within their heart. I have been riding for over 40 years and I'm always amazed at the power and strength of the human heart. Having said that, I have also witnessed the grand love and the grand tragedy as a result. more…
